1. Okay, first of all, I run into stuff all of the time. Constantly! I have bruises all over the place. The majority of them, I don't know where they came from. I really don't consider myself a klutz (my husband is laughing at this), I just think I get too caught up in things, get in a hurry and my mind is elsewhere. So, anyway, though I don't consider myself a klutz, I do run into stuff all the time. Huh . . . . I think it's genetic because my mom does it too. :)
2. I love to read stuff that has no substance. Now, don't get me wrong, I love regular, work-the-mind, deep thought books too, but sometimes I just need a basic, on the surface book. Twilight books? People Magazine? Oh ya, I'll take them any day. (Don't get offended that I called Twlight a "no substance" book. I just meant it's not as deep or historical as some other books, but y'all know how much I love it. :)
3. I love working in the yard. Well, I hate weeding, but I like everything else. Which is interesting because when I lived with my parents I HATED working in the yard. There was nothing worse than hearing my dad blaring The Eagles song "Get Over It" at 8:00 on a Saturday morning. I knew weeding was on the schedule and it was misery. Anywho, I guess since it's my own home, I can understand the pride of taking care of it. :)
4. I know the names of the majority of analysts and commentators on ESPN, or any sports channel for that matter. If I don't know their names, I can certainly recognize their voice. This isn't by my own design. It came as part of the territory with my wonderful husband.
5. I consider myself an "unproven" crafty person. I have a thousand ideas in my head of things I want to do or try. I have done a few things here and there, but that's nothing compared to what I'm capable of. Ha Ha. Just take my word for it, it will probably never be proven. :)
6. I'm an HGTV (Home and Garden TV) nut. (Shout out to you Adhis :). I could watch it all day. I don't, because I typically have Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Dora on, which doesn't make sense because Ava watches it for less than a nanasecond, but nonetheless I LOVE HGTV. House Hunters, Designed to Sell, My House is Worth What?, Carter Can: I'll take it any day. One of the most relaxing times for me is when I put the Little Miss to bed, take a bath, and then get into bed and watch a little HGTV. There's nothin' better!
So, there's a bit about me. You probably feel a little jipped that there wasn't anthing more interesting, but it is what it is. :)
Ok I tag Kaydee, Jen, Sarah, Lori, Valerie, Cami, Bobbi, and Brittany. Ya, more than six, but it's okay. :)
Love you all!

Frustration and Love . . . . . . . .
I don't know why I decided to blog about this, but here goes. The other day I was sitting at the computer catching up on some blogs. It was one of those potty training, Ava not minding me, trying to do everything she can to annoy me days. I know you all know what I'm talking about. Right? Right? I'm not the only one. Right? :) Anyway, I was so frustrated with her and had resorted to basically completely ignoring her, which is hard since she was brushing my hair. Wait, let me rephrase that, she was using my brush to press down extra hard on my tender head, scraping my ears, and pulling my hair in the process. Not the best feeling in the world. So, I was reading through my little niece's blog and it got me so emotional! I wasn't necessarily sad, just emotional. I sat there reading, tears streaming down my cheeks, and my daughter causing me a lot of pain. The next thing I know I felt her little hand wiping away my tears and her little lips kissing my cheek. She kept saying, "mommy sad?" I loved her so much right then; even with the many potty training mishaps and a bruised head. :)

Sun Valley Fun . . . . . . .
Every year, my family takes a trip to Sun Valley, ID. It is seriously one of the highlights of the year. It is so relaxing. We eat and swim the majority of the trip, but we get in quite a few other activities as well. This year we played beach volleyball, tennis, went bowling, and went trap shooting. As far as tennis goes, Alecia and I beat mom and Jess 3 games to 2. It was very close, very exciting, and very intense. If we would have had an audience, they would have been going crazy. :) Alecia and Sam beat Randy and I, but it was a fluke. It never should have happened and will never happen again. Plus, we refuse to play them again if Sam can't get his temper under control. :) Beach Volleyball was really fun too. Well, if you don't count the fact that the court is surrounded by stinging nettle. Robert got the worst of it. Our family is pretty hardcore though, so the poisonous plants didn't sway us from playing. Ha Ha. Bowling was exciting. The bowling alley is seriously from the 1950's and it is so fun. The low of the day was 53 and the high was 164. Go Sam! We obviously have varying levels of bowling skill. Trap shooting was great. I want to give a shout out to Jessica for nailing 3 out of 25. Atta girl! Dad took the gold, but the rest weren't too far behind. I was most impressed with Robert. My dad refused to let him shoot anything less than a 12 Gauge. He could barely lift it, but he surprised us all and did awesome! We had such a great time and can't wait until next year!
We'll start out with these pics. Soon after we got there, Ava and Robert were playing outside. I heard Robert yell, "Lynsey!" I ran out and he came up to the door holding Ava. They were both SOAKING wet. Apparently, Ava had decided to make a mad dash into the middle of the pond and Robert, being the great uncle that he is, decided to save her life. :) What a way to start the trip.

Oh the swimming we did. Ava was a fish and couldn't get enough of it. We only hit ONE swimmer in the face with a football, so all in all, it was a pretty successful adventure.

Just hangin' out at the condo. We watched a ton of the Olympics (Go Phelps!), Randy and Robert went over football plays, and we had a little WII time. Plus, I was surprised how entertaining coloring can be for grown adults. Who knew? Jessica and I also got in a lot of Twilight reading. That is probably why I didn't manage to get any pictures of Jess. :)

Have you ever seen a cuter bowler? Seriously - those tiny bowling shoes cracked us all up!

Jumpin' with the Cousins . . . . . . . .
Seriously, Ava has had SOOOO much fun the last couple of weeks. One of the highlights was definitely, "jumpin' with cousins." (Her words) We went to Jumpin' Jacks one day and Jump On It a few days later. At Jump On It, they charge you by the hour, but somehow, they didn't kick us out for 2 hours so we all got a steal of a deal. :) Here are a few highlights of the fun. And yes, it does look like Ava has a little mushroom cut from the 80's in some of the pictures. It cracks me up. Ava absolutely ADORES her cousins in case you can't tell.

Blood, Urgent Care, & Staples . . . . . . . .
Well, it's official, my baby is scarred. We had a pretty crazy night last Monday. Well, at least it was crazy for me. I was playing volleyball with the neighbors and Ava was playing on the porch. She fell backwards on her little folding chair and really started crying. I, of course, being calm, cool, and collected like I always am, made a mad dash to pick her up thinking it was one of her many falls that could be fixed quickly by a hug and a kiss. Well, as I held her, I looked down at the concrete and thought, "Is that blood?" Then I looked at my hand. Yes - It was blood. She had banged the back of her head hard on the porch railing and got a nasty little cut. As I moved the hair out of the way, I immediately felt myself starting to panic. I looked at my neighbor and said, "Oh ya, she needs stitches." I thought I sounded normal, but my neighbor, Ken, apparently didn't think I was completely stable. :) He took her and I ran and got a towel. All three of us got in the car and headed to Urgent Care. The entire way Ava was pointing out buses, yellow cars, and big trucks, as she always does. She had stopped crying before we even got in the car and she didn't cry at all until the doctor put her 5 staples in. She was so good. I was fighting back the tears while they put the staples in, and if the process would have been longer than 15 seconds, I probably would have collapsed. Ha Ha. Well, they wanted to put a bright pink bandage around her entire head and I was able to convince her to because it was a big bandaid. If you all don't already know this, a bandaid can fix anything. You should know that. Ava does. :) Well, the doc said to try and at least keep it on over night, but didn't seem to have much hope that it would happen with a 2 year old. Well, he doesn't know my daughter. She thought it felt better when it was on, so she kept that bright pink ninja band on her head for 2 days straight. It was hilarious. Even now, she has a regular bandaid on her head, even though it's nowhere near the cut and won't stay on because it sticks to her hair. Now, to some of you seasoned mothers this may just be another day for you, but it was my baby's first big boo-boo, and I'm glad it was only this bad. It almost makes me sick to think of her ever getting hurt any worse. Here are some pictures of my little ninja:

What else do you need? Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, blankies, and a massive bandaid! :)

Completely worn out after a hard day

I could not wake her up because she was so tired. I was trying to get her swimming suit off to get her in the tub and she fell back to sleep in my lap!

Something Sweet
Ava has decided that she wants to be rocked at night before she goes to sleep. Deep in my heart, I know that it's because she wants to prolong bedtime for a bit, but I choose to believe that she needs to be near me because she loves me so much. She was never a cuddly baby, so this is my reward for going through her baby stages without a lot of snuggling. Well, I've started singing her a song that my mom used to sing to us when we were little. It's from the Movie "Bye Bye Birdie." Although I've never seen the movie, I know the song well. It goes: (and this is my version) "Oh I love Ava, Oh yes I do, Oh I love Ava, and it is true, When she's not near me, I'm Blue!, Oh Ava I love you." Just recently Ava has decided to sing along with me. It is the cutest thing. She sings in her sweet little tiny voice and her favorite part is singing the Blue part really loud, although it's more like BWOOOO! I know this is a random post, but it is just so nice to rock her and have her sing with me. Plus, she appreciates my singing voice. :)

Sinners Welcome . . . . . . . . . . .

My two little sisters, who live in Vegas, surprised me with a little weekend away to come and visit them in Vegas. I packed up my stuff and my mom and I headed down. It was SOOOOOOO much fun. They're the best sisters ever and we had a wonderful time. There was a lot of talking and laughing. I'm not sure if you all know this, but Alecia, Jessica, and I are funny. Very, very funny. We literally crack ourselves up. Now, whether or not other people think we are funny is still up in the air. We went to Cirque du Soleil KA, which I would HIGHLY recommend to anyone. It was SOOOO great. Amazingly better than Blue Man Group if anyone cares. Anyway, my mom and I were also able to meet Alecia's cute boyfriend Sam. He is such a nice kid and we just fell in love with him. He plays in a band called Think and the first night we were down there, we decided to stay up late to go see his band play on the Strip in Vegas.
Well, this is where it gets interesting. He was playing in a bar called Diablos. Which by the way, the theme of this bar is "Sinners Welcome." Oh ya. The problem was, you had to be 21 to get in. Jessica is only 19. Sam told us not to worry about it because we were with the band and just there to watch them. Well, we underestimated how hard core Security was. Literally. The main guy must have been bullied in high school because he was seriously getting back at the the world by taking down the enemy (my 19 year old sister Jessica). Well, he wouldn't let her in, so Sam snuck her in around the back. We were just hangin' out checking out the high class people in the bar, and drinking our ice water. My mom especially loved the LOUD LOUD band that was playing before Sam. Seriously, they were horrible. Well, I saw Mr. Security come up the stairs. We had to think fast. Normal, law-abiding citizens would have just marched that little 19 year old back down the stairs to the safety that was the Las Vegas Strip. Not us, we quickly had Jessica hide behind the pole, and through a series of vague points and head nods, guided her around and around the pole as Mr. Security moved around the bar, obviously looking for the deviant that was my sister.
Well, we won. He stared at us long and hard, but Jessica was nowhere to be found, or so he thought. :) We thought we had it made and went back to the bad music, mixed drinks of ice water, trying not too breathe the air too deeply, and screaming at the top of our lungs to hear each other. Believe me, we crazy Mormons felt right at home. We were there for over an hour waiting for the band to play at Midnight. We had five minutes until they played and we could smell the victory of accompanying a minor into a bar. Well, right then we noticed Mr. Security, but it was too late. He saw her and we knew we were busted. Well, normally I would think that he would come up to Jessica and say, "Hey, you gotta go." Oh no. This guy had a bone to pick. Jessica stood up behind the pole not knowing what to do. We were all staring helplessly. What ensued for the next 10 minutes was the Security guys speaking forcefully into their mouthpieces, walking around the bar "nonchalantly" and finally the big take down. It was ridiculous.
Jessica had started just walking out of the bar, but they would have none of that. Probably 5 or 6 security guys circled around her. This is how it looked: Sam putting his arm around her trying to get her out, my mom trying to get the security guys attention all the while saying, "I'm her mom! I'll just take her out!" Which, let's be honest, is hilarious. Anyone who knows my mom knows that's just how she is. Hardcore fighter of security guys who tries to sneak her underage daughter into bars on the Las Vegas strip. :) Anyway, Alecia and I looked on wondering what was going to happen. The security guys escorted the underage threat, my mom, and Sam down to the street. Well, they were using colorful language. Yes, colorful, that's how I'll put it. Sam didn't feel they were being respectful, so he was trying to let them know that. Well, that just ticked the security guys off even more.
To make a long story even longer, two cops became involved, talk of jail was loosely thrown around, although it was never a real possiblity according to one cop, and in the end Sam was thrown out of the club, the band played without him, and Jessica was crying because she felt bad. Hmmm . . . . . not a typical weekend for this family! LOL! In the end, it was probably the funniest thing I have ever been involved in. It was a bummer that we didn't get to see Sam play, but it was a GREAT weekend filled with great company, good food, great shows, laughter, and oh ya, running from Security. Thanks for the good times!
